I just learned about a new magazine out of Washington state. It's called Logan, and it's been started by Logan Olson, a 21-year-old who's been in a wheelchair for years due to a congenital heart defect.
Apparently, by the age of 16, Logan had undergone six major surgeries, and soon after suffered a heart attack. As she recovered, she wanted to be as normal a teen as possible. She wanted to look cool, have fun, and do normal girl stuff. BUT she found that tips for looking pretty while in your wheel chair are few and far between.
So she created a place where she can focus on them. Her own magazine. How effing cool is that?
Part of the funding has come from a state vocational training and rehab department...and the rest has come from the family's own budget.... so what say you head on over to the website and buy a subscription if you know ANY young people that could benefit from it? Don't know anyone? You can always buy a subsciption and donate it to a doctors office or a library or something like that....
I'm going to.
"LOgan" sounds like a wonderful idea and Logan sounds like a pretty spectacular young lady. I will spread the word about her magazine to my friends and family.

That is really interesting! I will definitely have to check it out. And buying a subscription for doctor's offices/hospitals is a great idea. I grew up going to a Shriner's Children's Hospital, and this would be perfect for their waiting room. Thanks!

Hello! My name’s Brianna Leigh Walt and this is the reader’s digest version of My Story:
It was April 6, 2005 and I was 16. I was leaving my ex’s house at about 10 PM (15 minutes AFTER curfew). I, of course, was speeding (going 70 in a 35). Well luckily 2 pretty big trees were there to slow me down….NOT!!!
That put me into a coma for 13 weeks! I was in and out of numerous hospitals for half a year (6 months). I suffered a TBI where I completely sheared my brain stem and my corpus collosum AND sheered my cerebellum 70%! It’s a miracle I’m still alive and functioning like I used to. The main difference is that I’m now in a wheelchair, but I don’t let that stop me from living life to the fullest!
The main reason I tell you that is because I’m sure you understand how difficult it is for those with disabilities/handicaps to even be accepted in society. I have read (and am a subscriber) to your magazine! I must say it’s truly inspiring!
The purpose behind this email is simply to ask if there is a position open for you or the magazine anytime in the future?. I graduate from NIC (North Idaho College) around Christmas with my AA! I plan on taking a semester or two off to work and enjoy life (I’ll only be 21 for crying out loud!).
I look forward to hearing back from you soon!
God Bless,
Brianna (Bri)
