I just read a report about how this year's televised pageant raked in all these young viewers. That in fact among the 2.4 million people who watched, those ages 18 to 24 increased by 257 percent from last year.
WHOA.
The reason cited for the increase? The two-hour reality TV/Doc called Pageant School: Becoming Miss America... which was seen by over 16 million viewers.
I don't know any young people who watched (if you're one of them, email me thru my site at AllMadeUp.net!) but the part that makes me uneasy is that we're getting more and more used to shows that show us how to become a model, become a rock star, become a beauty queen.... It's like one big "how to" manual... And I wonder if all these shows cause what experts call 'triggering behaviors' ie they somehow prompt us to do something we never might have considered until we saw it played out in front of us... and saw how darn "easy" it can be.
Hmmm.... gotta think about that.
i think she is o.k. she is not all that bad. i like her song "sweet escape."

The Miss America pageant is great. I know because I compete in pageants and I am planning to run for Miss America myself. It's better for younger people to be watching Miss America than sexed up Britney Spears videos...wouldn't you agree?
