Here's what I have to say about all the static Britney is getting over her VMA appearance:
Her song sucks? Fine, whatever. So do most of them
She lip syched? Eh... so do the best of them.
She had no business wearing that black bikini given the state her body was in?
S T O P R I G H T T H E R E.
In my opinion, it's gross and offensive that people are criticizing her body when
a) the girl has two kids. AND
b) pop culture is all up in arms about models being too skinny etc, and then when someone whose body has gone through real life is in the public eye, it gets ridiculed and disparaged.
"Lard and Clear" read the headline of the New York Post....
"The bulging belly she was flaunting was SO not hot" was written on E!
"GRRRRRRRRR. SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP!" says Audrey
Worse still, Janice Min, editor of the celebrity magazine US Weekly was quoted saying: "In that ensemble, you just can't have an ounce of anything extra. Many women wouldn't eat for days if they were wearing that." Way to ensure starvation like that keeps on a happenin' Janice. Foolish fool.
So what's the effect of all this? Conversations like the one I overheard at the travel agent today, where everyone seems to think it's ok, normal, fun, and conversational to comment on a woman's body by saying things like "Didja see Britney last night?! She was jiggling like jello!"
I was so close to reaching over the counter and slapping the idiotic clerk who started the conversation I can't even tell you.

(tee hee. It's good to be back!)
This is something I'm really glad you touched on. Yes the performance was bad, but criticisms of her body are out of order.
What makes it even sadder is that she has gone under the knife, and probably starved herself in order to wear that outfit anyway. And even that wasn't good enough for today's body facists!
Love the blog. I'll be subscribing!

Although I understand she has had two kids, it's important to be in shape when you're going to be performing like she usually does. I think it's just too soon for her. I'm not saying, "Ew she's fat and disgusting." I'm saying I honestly think Britney is unhealthy, emotionally and physically. She's known for her gorging and then overexercising before a big show and also for her dramatic and fast weight fluctuations, even way before she got pregnant.
About that particular costume: I'm not going to go as far as saying, "She had no business wearing that." But...it just wasn't flattering for her body type. Everyone has things they look great in and things they don't look great in. That outfit just wasn't good for her, and she even admitted that I read in a recent article.

I understand the comment above...however, the criticism should be directed at her performance, not her body. Then again, how could her body NOT be included in a critique of her performance?? She's only been flaunting it for how many years now??
Nevertheless, the comments were def. out of line. As if she probably didn't feel bad already about her less than admirable performance.
I love your blog by the way, I've been reading everything in it and I've only found this just this morning!

I don't really think it's about her body. It's about her, and how she's messed up her career.
Anything that was even a little wrong during that performance would have been raped by the media- poked, prodded, yaddayaddayadda.
